What Is Fortnite?

Fortnite is a survival game that pits 100 players against each other in player-versus-player combat. The last team, duo, or squad standing is the winner. It’s a fast-paced, action-packed game where strategic thinking is a must in order to survive. In less than a year, Fortnite has grown to 125 million players world wide.

How Does Fortnite Work?

To start the match, players skydive onto a small island. Armed with only an axe, players begin scavenging for resources and weapons while avoiding an electrical storm that causes damage if players stand in it too long. As players are eliminated, the field of play gets smaller, forcing players into a smaller area and encouraging combat until only one player or team remains alive. Although the game is free to play, you do need to create an account with Epic Games. Our league participants are allowed to use their own Fortnite account, if they don’t have one we will provide one.

Why DO KIDS like it?

Fortnite Battle Royale is a game of survival. The competitive element of facing off against 99 other players adds a sense of urgency, as does the ever-shrinking map.

The game features colorful animations and the graphics that appeal to users of all ages. Epic Games also regularly updates the game with new and interesting features. Users can unlock new cosmetic items (for free) by continuing to play the game, which allows players to build a unique identity within the game.

Avatars also have a variety of dance animations for players to use along with emotes that are quite amusing. Many of these dances and emotes are inspired by popular culture, so gamers can enjoy them either in the game or in the schoolyard.

The game features a strong social element. Users can play solo or in groups of two or more. In-game chat allows players on a team to talk to each other with headsets or text.
